Manila, Philippines [12 August 2021]—PLDT Enterprise remains steadfast in helping businesses implement their digital roadmaps, sustain their work operations, and accelerate recovery despite the economic disruptions brought by the global COVID-19 crisis.

PLDT, the country’s largest fully integrated telco provider, reported steady growth for its enterprise business marked by the strong uptake of ICT services among the enterprise segment, particularly data center colocation and cloud revenues.

“Data center revenues continue to grow, with colocation net service revenues increasing by 22% versus last year, as we build more racks for our major customers and hyperscalers,” said PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio during the PLDT Group’s 2021 First Half Financial and Operating Results briefing held recently.

PLDT operates 70% of the total market in the data center segment touting its market leadership and a major curator of cloud services in the Philippines. Compared to the same period last year, Enterprise revenues grew 2% to Php 20.4 billion buoyed by earnings for its ICT business, which grew 7%. Data and broadband remain the growth driver in this segment, and which now accounts for 72% of its total enterprise service revenues.

“Despite the challenges in the first half because of the lockdowns and the impact on MSMEs, we will see a much better second half as we continue to push forward in Enterprise. We have the largest data center ecosystem which leverages on our fiber optic backbone,” Panlilio added.

PLDT has been helping industries stay afloat and operating by providing connectivity solutions to address organizations’ arrangements for remote working and limited operations. The connectivity bundle ‘Beyond Fiber’ has provided enterprise clients affordable alternatives to efficiently implement enterprise-grade connectivity, cybersecurity, and office applications to their remote operations. This was initially offered as a stimulus package to MSMEs and given for free for the first three months during the initial periods of the country’s quarantine lockdown last year.

As the premier digital enabler of businesses amid the pandemic, PLDT has helped businesses future-proof their operations through digital offerings with SD-WAN technology. Major companies in various industries have already closed deals with PLDT securing the telco’s leadership in SD-WAN technology in the Philippines.

In support of the efforts in the public sector, PLDT has helped government and agencies with their digitization programs in aid of their operations to ensure the delivery of public services given the health protocols that were implemented.

PLDT is committed in helping the country move forward into economic recovery by enabling large organizations, in addition to supporting small to medium businesses, through innovative digital solutions scalable to their changing needs. This initiative to help enable businesses to thrive in the “new normal” falls under PLDT's group-wide commitment to Awesome Customer Experience and Quality of Service, one of the seven pillars that comprise the company's sustainability framework. PLDT and Smart’s relentless push to enable and empower businesses with technology and connectivity is also aligned with the group’s long-standing commitment to help the Philippines attain the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG #9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
