Cebu, Philippines [ 16 September 2020 ] – With Cebu City as one of the COVID-19 hotspots in the country, employing e-learning strategies for the city’s students is now more imperative than ever. Educational institutions are now seeking ways to move forward without putting their communities at risk.
Top allied health school Velez College in Cebu City, known for its excellent curricula in Medical Technology, Nursing, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Biology, is now embracing the use of online strategies through its partnership with PLDT Enterprise.
"Our vision at Velez College is to aim for academic excellence anchored on competence and integrity, and to mold our students into professionals with the same values. Our continued partnership with PLDT will show our students that despite the challenge of COVID-19, we will continue to advance their education to the next level and exert all possible efforts to do so,” said James Ting, Vice President for Administration, Velez College.
With PLDT Enterprise’s Microsoft for Education, Velez College hopes to push further their agenda of providing quality education for Velezians. Through its Learning Management System, it will streamline the management and delivery of educational courses, training programs, and learning and development programs. The Microsoft for Education licenses will keep over 1,900 faculty and students safe by allowing teachers to teach at home while the students learn from home.
"With these initiatives in place, we hope they understand that education is not limited to the four walls of a school building, but it can happen anywhere, whether at school or home," Ting added.
Velez College’s long standing partnership with PLDT Enterprise began when the former equipped the school’s administration building with fiber connectivity in 2010. Since then, the partnership has allowed the Velez College to fortify its educational capabilities through technology.
“PLDT Enterprise continues to support our academic sector at this time, and working with Velez allows us to render creative ways and necessary tools to implement their goals and to maintain their good standing in providing allied health degrees," remarked Jimmy Chua, AVP & Head of Corporate Relationship Management for the Visayas.
PLDT Enterprise aims to redefine the future of learning through its continuous engagements with universities, colleges, schools and learning institutions across the country so no learner is left behind.
